One of the ambitions of RECEIPT is to explore how future climate variability and change could undermine the development, competitiveness, stability and resilience of partner countries of the EU.
To do so, our researchers have expanded the widely used INFORM (Index for Risk Management) to include projections of climate change amplified hazards such as floods and droughts, as well as projections of demographic changes and vulnerability. The results were used for the identification of remote hotspots among partner countries of the EU and will inform the implementation of a strategic approach for resilient international cooperation.
In its new disasters report, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) includes extracts and references to RECEIPT researchers’ work on the INFORM index, including climate-specific risk projections as well as advice and support on the expanded index.
